The Mortal Body
Anatomy of Grief and the Sacred Art of Letting Go
Created by Gillian Soder

The Mortal Body is a summer study into the places we avoid: grief, death, stillness, and what happens inside a body when it lets go.
This course blends nervous system science, anatomical truth, and the deep mystery of yogic rest.

We don’t talk about death nearly enough — especially in yoga spaces. Ironic, since the final posture of a practice is typically savasana, or "corpse pose".
But Savasana isn't just a nap. It’s a ritual of release. A rehearsal for surrender. A mirror for life.

After 20+ years in forensic medicine, standing in the quiet company of the recently passed, I’ve learned that death isn’t the opposite of life. It’s part of it.
And strangely enough, building a relationship with death doesn’t lead to fear.

It leads to clarity, gratitude, and deep, grounded empowerment.

The Mortal Body invites you to approach death not with dread, but with curiosity, and to reframe your body’s endings as part of its wisdom.

What Makes this Course Different:
Most courses on death tiptoe around the edges. This one walks straight in.
I’ve worked with the human body after life leaves it. That lens — forensic, clinical, and deeply human — is what makes this offering different.

You’ll get Ritual, Meaning, and the Perspective that only comes from standing in the presence of death... again and again.

This isn’t morbid. It’s empowering.

When you have a relationship with death, you stop fearing life’s impermanence — and start living like it matters.
